PROGRAMS

During the school term, Merrylands Youth Centre (MYC) holds various educational programs to enhance the well-being of young people. MYC provides a safe and supportive environment for young people to express themselves, seek assistance and/or have a place to relax.

Monday

  • Come in and have a chat  10:00 – 2:00pm:  Youth centre is open to speak to a youth worker.
  • Homework Help Program  3:00pm – 6:00pm (MUST BOOK IN):  Supporting all students with their homework and assignments. In partnership with Cumberland Multicultural Community Services.

Tuesday 

  • Cafe289  11:00am – 2:00pm:  Cafe289 is a space in the Centre where young people can chill out, seek assistance and support from the youth workers, have a hot beverage or some of the other drinks and food options (subject to availability). 
  • Day Program/Job Club  11:00am – 2:00pm:  Merrylands  Youth Centre helps with goods, free coffee, WIFI, showers, wash/dry your clothes and a safe place to relax. If you need to talk to staff or need assistance/support looking for housing options, Centrelink, Health, Counselling, fines, job search or resume assistance. Please feel free to come in.
  • Tuesday Hangout  3:00pm – 5:00pm: Young people are able to receive assistance through our basic needs program, use of Centre’s facilities or join in activities including arts and craft. Come in and enjoy playing pool, table tennis, play station, arcade games and more. There is free WIFI! 

Wednesday – Girl’s Only Day

  • Girl’s Podcast – MYC Uncensored  3:00pm – 5:00pm:  MYC Uncensored is integrated with the Girl’s program. Come along, join in the podcast and become part of the podcast committee to educate other young females in the community about different topics and issues that affect young women. Learn new skills and meet new people!
  • Girl’s only Drop In  3:00pm – 5:00pm (NO BOYS):  Girls can come in to receive assistance through our basic needs program, use of Centre’s facilities or join in activities including arts and craft. Come in and enjoy playing pool, table tennis, play station, arcade games and more. There is free WIFI! 
  • Young Mum’s Program:  It is a one-on-one support program for young mothers, aged 12-24 years old. If you need assistance or support with anything, come down and talk to us. Young mothers can come into the Centre between 10:00am – 5:00pm on Wednesday.
  • Cafe289  11:00am – 3:00pm:  Cafe289 is a space in the Centre where young people can chill out, seek assistance and support from the youth workers, have a hot beverage or some of the other drinks and food options (subject to availability). 

Thursday

  • Thursday Hangout  3:00pm – 5:00pm:  All young people 12-24 years old are welcome. Young people are able to receive assistance through our basic needs program, use of Centre’s facilities or join in activities including arts and craft. Come in and enjoy playing pool, table tennis, play station, arcade games and more. There is free WIFI!
  • Harry’s Cafe (Last Thursday of the month)  3:00pm – 7:00pm:  Come down and have a coffee with Harry, listen to music, hang out and meet new people. 

Friday

  • There are no programs running on Friday’s. It is an admin day, however, bookings can be made to see a youth worker.
